A Little Bit About Casolin
Casolin is an Italian woodworking machinery company that began in 1970. Shortly after its birth, Casolin gained a dominant position in the construction of woodworking machinery and has held that position ever since.
The company produces simple, consistent, and dependable machinery that is of the highest quality. Not only does the company put effort into creating the best working machines, but they also focus their efforts and research on creating the best working achines that provide the best working conditions. Casolin offers nearly any woodworking machine a woodworking manufacturing facility could need with anything from sliding table saws to moulders, sanders, shapers, and jointers.
What is a Sliding Table Saw?
A table saw is a circular saw that is mounted on an arbor under a table, through which the blade protrudes. The main function of a table saw is to hold the saw blade at the desired or necessary angle while the woodworker pushes material through the blade.
A sliding table saw comes equipped with a moveable table that supports the material being cut and can be pushed forward as the material is being cut, and backward to “reset” the table. The sliding table allows our craftsmen to run larger, longer materials at a quicker and more accurate rate. Sliding table saws have the same basic parts as regular table saws with one exception: the table on a sliding table saw is typically larger and moves as the material is being cut.
Our Casolin
Our Casolin sliding table saw was built in 1997. It has a tilting arbor that tilts to 45 degrees, a scoring blade, digital controls, and a 126″ sliding table.
It is a big machine! A 7.5 HP motor powers the machine and a 1HP motor powers the scoring arbor. Though it is a large machine, it has proven to be an excellent workhorse and is our go to for many of our daily, and not so daily, tasks. This machine is very accurate and for good reason. Casolin’s well known quality aside, the sliding table helps to make cutting and ripping material much easier than with a standard table saw. When using a normal table saw, the craftsman must push the material over the cutting edge which can leave room for a less than perfect cut.
With the sliding table, we can just place the material right on the table, and push the table, which is what moves the material over the cutting surface. This feature eliminates the extra movement during the cutting process allowing to get one of the best, most accurate cuts possible. Our clients expect the highest quality product, and this machine is just one of the working parts that help us create a product that is unmatched in quality.
