D.P. Juza Woods & Fixtures was recently commissioned to custom craft four wooden chests for a client with a newborn daughter.
The chests are an heirloom gift representing the love of a father for his wife and children. They are fully functional pieces, though they are beautiful to look at.
D.P. Juza craftsmen utilized Wormy Chestnut, and lined the chests with Aromatic Cedar. This project was customized to the client’s desires from the start. Our woodworkers engineered the chests’ design and production from start to finish—however, these are anything but production line pieces. These chests are completely custom, handmade with natural hardwood. The entire process took about two months.
An unusual aspect to the project was that every member of the workshop had a hand in constructing the chests. Usually the number of people working a project is limited to keep costs down, but this project was different.
The chests became more than a custom job for the shop; they became a physical reminder to us of the beauty in a father’s love for his daughters. At D.P. Juza Woods & Fixtures, this is the type of work we enjoy doing, but it isn’t often these types of projects come in. Every person that has seen the chests has remarked at their beauty.
Since their completion, word has spread and created significant interested in them, so much that D.P. Juza intends on starting a line of chests based on this project. The only difference being in price, since the engineering and construction process has been finalized D.P. Juza can offer chests at an affordable price point.
